Crocheted Clock and Rug

Clock Pillow
12 Inches in Diameter Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY “AUNT LYDIA’S HEAVY RUG YARN, Article 235, 2 skeins each White and Yellow or Buttercup 1 skein Black, Aluminum crochet hook size H. 1/2 yd. material for pillow. Cotton, shredded foam rubber or any material suited for filling.

With Yellow chain (ch) 2, work 8 single crochet (sc) in 2nd stitch (st) from hook.

2nd Round. Without joining, work 2 sc in each sc (16 sc). Place a marker at beginning of each round and do not join rounds.

3rd Round. * 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * all around.

4th Round. Working in sc, increase in every 3rd sc.

Work 1 round even in sc.

6th and 7th Rounds. Increase in every 4th sc in each round.

Work 1 round even.

9th Round. Increase in every 5th sc.

10th Round. Increase in every 4th sc.

Work 1 round even.

12th Round. Increase in every 5th sc.

Work 2 rounds even.

15th Round. Increase in every 5th sc.

Work 2 rounds even, slip stitch (sl st) in next 2 sts to even round, cut yarn.

With White work another section in same manner.

Trace numbers on white section only with basting thread. With Black crochet a ch to fit over each number. With “STAR” SIX CORD MERCERIZED SEWING THREAD sew in position as illustrated.

Hands: With Black cut 6 strands 12 inches in length and braid tightly. Tie about 1/2 inch from each end. Sew snap fastener on braid having 1 end longer than other. Sew other half of snap fastener in center of top section so hands can be turned around. Cut 2 circles of material same size as crocheted sections. Sew the 2 sections together leaving an opening for pillow. Fill with cotton, shredded rubber or any suitable material and sew opening closed. With Yellow and wrong sides together, crochet the 2 crocheted sections together with a row of sc, leaving opening large enough to insert pillow. Insert pillow and crochet remainder of pillow together or finish with zipper if desired.

Ring: With Black cover a bone ring in sc and sew to top of pillow.

Braids: Using 9 strands of Black 18 inches long, pull through 13th st from center at lower edge of pillow, divide in 3 equal parts and braid. Tie about 1 inch from lower edge. Make another braid in same manner placing it in 13th st from opposite side of center at lower edge.

Clock Rug
33 Inches in Diameter Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY “AUNT LYDIA’S” HEAVY RUG YARN, Article 235 8 skeins White 3 skeins Yellow or Buttercup 1 skein Black or colors of your choice Aluminum crochet hook size H

With White work 1st 15 rounds same as Clock Pillow.

Next 2 Rounds. Work even in sc.

Next Round. Increase in every 4th st. Work 3 rounds even in sc.

Next Round: Increase in every 5th st. Work 5 rounds even.

Next Round. Increase in every 6th st. Work 4 rounds even.

Next Round. Increase in every 7th st. Work 3 rounds even.

Next Round. Increase in every 6th st. Work 4 rounds even.

Next Round. Increase in every 7th st. Work 2 rounds even.

Next Round. Work even in sc ending with a sl st in each of the last 2 sts to even round, cut yarn.

Next Round. Attach Yellow in next sc and work even in sc. Work 2 rounds even.

Next Round. Increase in every 12th st. Work 4 rounds even.

Next Round. 1 sl st in each sc, cut yarn. Work numbers in same manner as clock pillow.

Hands: With Black cut 30 strands 30 inches long and braid tightly. Finish ends same as on clock pillow. Sew snap fastener on braid having 1 end longer than other. Sew other half of fastener in center of rug so hands can be turned around.
