Corn
Materials: DMC Pearl Cotton, Art. 116D, size 8: 2 balls Yellow Ombre No. 90 or No. 108 (A) and DMC Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 1 ball Green No. 909 or No. 911 (B). Suitable padding for lining. Steel crochet hook size 7.
Gauge: 10 sts = 1 inch; * = STAR.
With A ch 68.
Row 1 (right side)-1 sc in 2nd ch from * hook, 1 sc in next ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, 5 dc in next ch, drop loop from hok, insert hook in first dc of 5 dc just made and draw dropped loop thru tightly (Popcorn made), 1 dc in next ch; rpt from STAR 29 times, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in each of 2 chs (30 Popeorns).
Row 2-Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st across (67 sc).
Row 3-Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 1 hdc in next sc, 1 dc in next sc, * a Popcorn in next sc, 1 dc in next sc; rpt from STAR 29 times, 1 hdc in next sc, 1 sc in each of 2 sc.
Row 4-Rpt row 2.
Rpt rows 3 and 4-alternately until 16 rows from beginning. Fasten off. Make one more piece to correspond. Lay the 2 sides together (wrong sides facing each other), sew lengthwise at both sides leaving 1/2-inch free at one end, close opening at other end by gathering the edges together firmly.
LEAF (Make 3)-With B ch 3, 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1. Now work 8 sc around post of dc just made.
Row 2-Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc across. Rpt row 2 nine times.
Row 12-Ch 1, turn, skip first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc, skip next sc, 1 sc in last sc (dec. made). Rpt row 2 three times.
Rpt rows 12, 2, 12.
Final row-Ch 1, turn, skip first sc, 1 sc in last sc, fasten off. Sew Leaves to closed end of Corn as shown.
RING-With B chain 1 1\4 inches, join into ring, 25 sc in ring, join, fasten off; sew to center of Leaf cluster as shown. Cut padding to fit and line.
Cucumber
MATERIALS: DMC Pearl Cotton, Art. 116D, Size 8: 2 balls Green Ombre No. 101. Suitable padding for lining. Steel Crochet Hook, Size 7.
GAUGE: 9 sc-dc patterns = 2 inches; 7 rows = l inch
Using double strand throughout; ch 57 1 sc in 2nd from hook, 1 sc in each of next 3 chs, work [1 sc, 1 dc] in next ch, skip next ch; rpt from STAR 23 times, 1 sc in each of next 4 chs.
Row 2-Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of 4 sc, * skip next dc, [1 sc, 1 dc] in next sc; rpt from STAR 23 times, 1 sc in each of 4 sc.
Rpt row 2 until 17 rows from beginning. Fasten off.
Make one more piece to correspond. Lay one piece on top of the other, sew lengthwise at both sides leaving 1\2-inch free at one end, close opening at other end by gathering the edges together firmly.
RING-Chain 114 inches join into ring, 25 sc in ring, join, fasten off. Sew to closed end of Cucumber as shown.
TENDRILS (Make 5)-Chain 1 1\2 inches slip st in 2nd ch from book, slip st in each remaining ch, fasten off. Sew to closed end as shown. Cut padding to fit and line.
